Inspired by input-based methods like Antimoon, AJATT, and the ALG method, this free course helps you learn German by reading and listening to natural conversations, not by memorizing grammar or drilling vocabulary.
There's no speaking requirement, no grammar explanations, and no need to search for materials. Everything is here: a short conversation for every day with its English translation and simple guidance, so you can learn German naturally and for free. Audio recordings of the lessons are on the way.
The conversations sound like German as people really speak it, with the right way of addressing each person, a friendly du or a polite Sie: friends and couples, families and coworkers, shopkeepers and strangers, women and men, children and grandparents.
Just follow the lessons, day by day, and let your understanding grow.
Getting Started
- Before anything else, read the How to Use page. It explains how to get the most from this course.
- Take a few minutes with the sounds of German first. German spelling is fairly regular, so once you know how the letters sound, you can read most words aloud.
- Start with Day 1: read the dialogue and its translation, without worrying about understanding everything right away.
- Revisit lessons whenever you like. Repetition is natural and helpful.
- You learn best through input: by reading, listening, and absorbing language in context.
- You want to build understanding before worrying about speaking.
